http://fortsmaubeuge.canalblog.com/La défense de Maubeuge en 1914frThu, 12 Nov 2009 04:04:40 GMTCanalBlog - http://www.canalblog.comDavidLhttp://fortsmaubeuge.canalblog.com/archives/2005/06/02/556134.htmlDEFENSE DE MAUBEUGEhttp://fortsmaubeuge.canalblog.com/archives/2005/06/02/556134.html#commentshttp://fortsmaubeuge.canalblog.com/feeds/rss/comments/post/556134/http://fortsmaubeuge.canalblog.com/archives/2005/06/02/556134.html<p>La défense de Maubeuge durant la première guerre mondiale était assurée par plusieurs forts de type Séré de Rivière dont les principaux étaient :</p> <p>Le Fort Leveau,<br />Le Fort des Sarts,<br />La Fort de la Salmagne,<br />Le Fort de Boussois,<br />Le Fort de Cerfontaine,<br />Le Fort du Bourdiau,<br />Le Fort d'Hautmont.</p> <p>La place a résisté du 25 aout au 8 septembre 1914, soit 15 jours dont 11 de bombardement, et a ainsi le record de durée des sièges de la guerre 14-18.</p> <p>En effet Liège a résisté 10 jours, Namur 5 jours, Anvers 8 jours, Novo Georgiewsk (Russie) 12 jours, Rozan (Russie) 1 jour, Lomza (Russie) 3 jours ... le fort de Manonviller a résisté 2 jours, Charlemont 3 jours, Longwy 5 jours ... Verdun n'a pas subit à proprement parler un siège, c'était un point d'un immense champs de bataille ... la forteresse allemande de Tsing-Tao, attaquée par les japonais, a résisté 8 jours ... (source <em>Maubeuge 1914</em> de Jules Duvivier).</p> <p>Le nombre de prisonniers fut de 45636. Il s'évada plus de 1300 hommes. Les pertes furent, du coté assiégés, de 5000 hommes environ.</p> <p>Cependant, lors de la reddition de la place, cinq ouvrages permanents sur treize étaient encore intacts.</p> <p>&quot;Il n'est pas illogique de penser que les derniers ouvrages de Maubeuge auraient pu prolonger encore la résistance de trois jours pour le moins (...) la chute de Maubeuge s'est produite assez tôt pour permettre au commandement allemand d'engager le VIIè corps de réserve dans sa contre-offensive du 20 septembre. La tourelle de 155 tire sans relache.</p> <p>Le 2 septembre la coupole est détruite, un obus traverse la couche de terre recouvrant les voutes maconnées et éclate au contact de celles-ci.
